Great Britain (1609-10) shilling
This specimen was lot 33956 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: James I Shilling ND (1609-1610) XF40 PCGS, Tower mint, Key mm, Second Coinage, Fifth Bust. Showcasing relatively strong centers with mild peripheral weakness. Mislabeled on the holder as S-2645." The SCWC lists seven different shillings for James I; as they are undated, sorted them out requires skill, with the SCWC having deleted many photos. This one is perhaps the most common. With the accession of James I we drop "England" as the country name and adopt the current "Great Britain."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.02 g, 0.925 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 28, S-2656.
