This specimen was lot 493 in Schulman auction 379 (Amsterdam, June 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLLANDSE STEDEN. Rozenobel. z.j. (1590-1600), Gold, GORINCHEM Flemish noble. Vorst met zwaard en wapen in schip, vlag met gotische E op de achtersteven ED - WΛRD' DI GRΛ' REX ΛNGL': S FRΛNC'. - DNS I.IB'.. Kz. stralenzon op gebloemd kruis, in de hoeken gekroonde luipaarden ster IHC'∴ ΛVT'∴ TRΛNSIENS PER MEDIVM ILLORVM IBΛT. Bijna prachtig. (province of Holland, undated Flemish noble, circa 1590-1600, Gorinchem Flemish noble. Obverse: prince with sword and shield in ship, flag with gothic E on the stern; reverse: radiant sun on floriate cross cantonned with four crowns. About extremely fine.)"

Gorinchem was originally an independent burg but was incorporated into the county of Holland in 1417. It was on the front line of the contest between the Catholics and Calvinists during the sixteenth century. This issue and an accompanying rose noble (Fr-80) are the only gold issues from this town. The rose noble has a crown mintmark where this one bears a star. The Flemish noble was an imitation of a fifteenth century English coin.
