Sincona sale 102, lot 5311

This specimen was lot 5311 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$339 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Glarus. Schilling 1813, Glarus. Variante: Auf dem Revers Blümchenverzierung im Uhrzeigersinn. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Glarus, schilling of 1813, Glarus mint, variety with the blooms on the reverse facing clockwise. About Extremely Fine.)"

Glarus joined the Swiss Confederation in 1352 but did not strike coinage until after the collapse of the Helvetic Republic. This somewhat scarce type is known for 1808-13. One schilling was three rappen; one hundred rappen made a frank.
