This twenty pence coin issued for the British colony of Gibraltar is one of the few coins that may actually circulate there. The Gibraltar section of the SCWC is stuffed with non-circulating commemoratives minted under license by the Pobjoy mint and marketed to collectors worldwide. This type was issued 1988-97 and for 1988 is known with "AA", "AC" and "BB" privy marks on the reverse. Other circulating issues include the one, two, five, ten and fifty pence.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 5 g, copper-nickel, 21.4 mm diameter, designed by Raphael Maklouf (obverse) and Alfred Ryman (reverse).
