Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3066

This specimen was lot 3066 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY: Federal Republic, 5 pfennig, 1949-F, a superb proof quality example! PCGS graded Proof 65, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck in 1949 only for the "BANK DEUTCHER LÄNDER". Four mints participated (D, F, G, J), the Berlin and Muldenhutten mints being in the Soviet zone.

Recorded mintage: 66,081,999 plus 250 proofs.

Specification: 3 g, brass plated steel, 18.5 mm diameter.
