This specimen was lot 1739 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Geneva. 20 Frank, 1848. NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines. Mintage of only 3,421 pieces. Minor hairlines. Nicely struck and attractive." Geneva minted five francs in silver, ten and twenty francs in gold in 1848, the last year of cantonal issues. This coin is not as rare as the mintage would indicate.
