Geneva 1759 2 quarts
This specimen was lot 4260 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$208 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 2 Quarts (1/2 Sol oder 6 Deniers) 1759, Genf. Silberabschlag. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, two quarts or half sol or six deniers of 1759, Geneva mint, struck in silver. Rare, Good Very Fine.)"
This type is listed in the SCWC for 1754-56, 1759, 1762, 1765-66, 1769-70, 1775-76, 1785-88 as a six deniers. As the denomination is not marked on the coin, it is a debate not amenable to resolution. This is an available date but the silver presentation strikes are rare. One thaler was 96 sols and one sol was four quarts.
