Geneva 1756 2 quarts
This specimen was lot 4259 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$166 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 2 Quarts (1/2 Sol oder 6 Deniers) 1756, Genf. Selten. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion NGSA 18, Genf, November 2022, Los 2376. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, two quarts or half sol or six deniers of 1756, Geneva mint. Rare, Very Fine.)"
This type is listed in the SCWC for 1754-56, 1759, 1762, 1765-66, 1769-70, 1775-76, 1785-88 as a six deniers. As the denomination is not marked on the coin, it is a debate not amenable to resolution. This is a rare date. One thaler was 96 sols and one sol was four quarts.
