Sincona sale 102, lot 5211

This specimen was lot 5211 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 3 Quarts 1612, Genf. Mzz. C. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Randausbruch. (Switzerland, city and canton of Geneva, Very rare, About Very Fine, Edge chipped.)"

This type was struck 1612-13, 1616-19, 1634-37; the 1612 is a rare date. These low denomination coins were often crudely made on bad planchets. One thaler was 96 sols and one sol was four quarts.

Specification: 0.92 g, billon, 18 mm diameter, this specimen 0.87 g.
