Geneva 1585-C ecu pistolet Fr-249
This specimen was lot 3245 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 7,500 CHF (about US$9,911 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, Ecu pistolet 1585, Genf. Mzz. C. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Numismatica Genevensis 10, Genf, Dezember 2018, Los 573. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 151, Osnabrück, Mai 2009, Los 4414. Exemplar der Auktion LHS Numismatik 101, Zürich, Oktober 2007, Los 69. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, écu pistolet of 1585, Geneva mint. Very rare, Very fine.)"
Friedberg lists this obscure type for 1562-86 and notes that the last écu pistolet was struck in 1642.
