This specimen was lot 1259 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS (United), Gelderland, "lion" daalder, 1638, PCGS MS63, finest known in PCGS census. Choice luster with very light rainbow toning, full details despite typical central softness, top certified grade (finest at PCGS and tied with single finest at the same grade at NGC)." This variety was struck 1636-46. A earlier variety (KM 15.1) was struck 1606-38; it has a cross after "GEL". Leeuwendaalders were struck in Gelderland until 1700.
