Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73167

This specimen was lot 73167 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description^[1] noted, "FUJAIRAH. 10 Riyals, AH 1388 (1969). Muhammad bin Hamad al-Sharqi. PCGS PROOF-66 Deep Cameo. Commemorating the Apollo XI mission. Lovely proof surfaces with just a hint of friction upon the matte devices." This state, part of the United Arab Emirates, issued a number of NCLT's in 1969-71 on dubious authority and then ceased, probably when its contract with the actual mint that produced them ended.
