Friedberg 1676-AL gulden
This specimen was lot 3189 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Friedberg, Reichsburg, Hans Eitel Diede zum Fürstenstein, 1671-1685. Gulden zu 60 Kreuzern 1676, Friedberg. Selten. Vorzüglich. Kleiner Randfehler. (Germany, imperial city of Friedberg, mayor [Jo]Hans Eitel Diede zum Fürstenstein, 1671-1685, gulden of sixty kreuzer of 1676, Friedberg mint. Rare, Extremely fine, Minor edge nick.)"
This type of 1674-76 is listed as fairly common, especially compared to the rare thalers. At the time, 3 kreuzer = groschen, 4 kreuzer = batzen, 90 kreuzer = one thaler. The free city of Friedberg evolved into a burgraviate and thence passed to Hesse-Darmstadt in 1802.
