The second specimen was lot 46129 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Fribourg. Batzen, 1827. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. A boldly struck and lightly toned coin with flashy luster in the fields. There is evidence of rotated double striking on both sides." This type of 1827-28 is fairly common. Five rappen and five batzen were also struck in 1827. Forty batzen made a thaler. The last cantonal issue was a 2½ rappen of 1846 (KM 91).
