Sincona sale 43, lot 4251

This specimen was lot 4251 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,074 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, 10 Batzen 1812. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. FDC. (city and canton of Fribourg, ten batzen of 1812. Cabinet piece. Brilliant uncirculated.)"

This and an even scarcer issue of 1811 (KM 77) are the only issues of this denomination from this canton after the French occupation. The last cantonal issue was a 2½ rappen of 1846 (KM 91).

Recorded mintage: 4,907 for 1811-12.

Specification: 7.50 g, silver, 29 mm diameter, this specimen 7.55 g.
