Stack's Bowers September 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74480

This specimen was lot 74480 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $45. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRENCH INDO-CHINA. Sapeque, 1892-A. Paris Mint. NGC AU-53. A charming and lightly handled example of the type." This type was struck 1887-89, 1892-1902 as a two sapeque, as can be seen by the Chinese character for "2" ("ニ") on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: 1,636,000.

Specification: 2.01 g, bronze, 20 mm diameter.
