This specimen was lot 29697 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "French Colony aluminum-bronze 25 Centimes 1943 MS65 NGC. A rare issue that was never released, with virtually all examples presumed to have been melted. An exquisite example of the type and missing from many advanced French Colonial collections." This type is accompanied by similar five and ten centimes, also rare.
