Sincona sale 11, lot 859

This specimen was lot 859 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 2,200 CHF (about US$2,724 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Frankfurt am Main, Stadt Dukat 1745. Auf die Wahl von Franz I. zum Kaiser. Fast FDC. (Germany, city of Frankfurt, ducat of 1745, on the coronation of Francis I as emperor. Choice uncirculated.)"

This one year type is somewhat available. It was accompanied by a 3/4 ducat (Fr-1010) and a 1¼ ducat.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3.47 g.
