France 1994 20 francs rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is a one year type struck at the Paris mint. It honors Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937), founder of the Olympic movement. It was struck in 1994 along with the regular issue twenty francs depicting Mont St. Michel (KM 1008, struck 1992-2001). Prieur notes that none were included in the mint sets of the year so choice specimens are hard to find.

Recorded mintage: 15,000,011.

Specification: 9 g, aluminum bronze outer ring and center, nickel middle ring, 27 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: F.405/1, KM 1036.
