France 1945-B 20 centimes
This specimen was lot 1048 in Jean Elsen sale 157 (Brussels, December 2023), where it sold for €130 (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Gouvernement provisoire (1944-1947), Zinc 20 centimes, 1945 B, Beaumont-le-Roger. Type Lindauer. Rare. Petit coup sur la tranche. Très Beau à Superbe. (provisional government of France, 1944-47, zinc twenty centimes, Beaumont-le-Roger mint, Lindauer type. Rare, small rim nick, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck immediately after liberation from Nazi occupation until the disbandment of the Provisional Government in 1946. This is the key date.
