The specimen shown is a five centimes of a type struck under the Third Republic of France 1917-20. All are Paris mint issues. The weight and diameter were reduced in 1921. Bronze five centimes were not discontinued until 1921.
Recorded mintage: 10,453,389, a common date, plus 16,962,867 of the bronze type.
Specification: 3 g, copper-nickel, 19 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Emile Lindauer.
