France 1917 10 centimes KM-843
The specimen shown is a ten centimes of a type struck under the Third Republic of France 1898-1921. All are Paris mint issues. There are 31 dates in the series, some expensive but only the 1905 is rare. The year 1917 also saw the introduction of a copper-nickel ten centimes with a hole, called the Lindauer type (KM 866a). The total production for the series is about 122 million. The design was also used on bronze one, two and five centimes of the Belle Epoque. All the bronze ten centimes pieces were demonetized in 1935.
Recorded mintage: 11,913,589, a common date, plus 8,171,364 of the Lindauer type.
Specification: 10 g, bronze, 30 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Jean-Baptiste Daniel-Dupuis (1849-99).
