This is a common date of a type struck 1848-51 at the Paris mint during the Second Republic of France. This type is a revival of a bronze centime struck under the First Republic An 6-An 8. The total mintage is nearly 25 million. The type was superseded in 1853 by the Napoleon III bare head centime (which weighed only 1 gram) and was demonetized in 1856.
