In 1845, the half franc struck in France since the days of Napoleon was converted to a fifty centimes piece. The weight and fineness were not changed. This fifty centimes was struck 1845-48 from Paris (shown here), Rouen, Strasbourg, Bourdeaux and Lille. This is a better date but not rare.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge
