Sincona sale 20, lot 2829

This specimen was lot 2829 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 250 (about US$313 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "50 Centimes 1847. Strasbourg. Fast vorzüglich. (nice extremely fine.)" This is not the rarest date for this French type, struck 1845-48, but it is close.

Recorded mintage: 43,918.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, plain edge, this specimen 2.52 g.
