This specimen was lot 20545 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,702.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lou[i]s XV gold 2 Louis d'Or 1764-Cow, MS62 NGC, Cow mintmark for the Province of Bearn, lightly toned and lustrous, adjustment marks on the bust." The Pau mint in the French province of Béarn in the Pyrenées struck this type 1742-70. This is the most common date.

Recorded mintage: 122,990.

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
