This specimen was lot 1331 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Double Louis d'or au bandeau, 1765-Q (Perpignan). Louis XV. Mintage 2,155. Rare. The only example graded at PCGS. PCGS graded EF-45." This type was struck in France 1742-73 in some numbers. The type is common altho most individual dates are rare. The Perpignan mint struck this type 1743-59, 1763-73 but generally in small numbers.

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
