France 1749-T ecu
This specimen was lot 30478 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV Ecu 1749-T MS64 NGC, Nantes mint. Tower privy mark. Struck on a moderately adjusted and lustrous planchet, the surfaces uniquely toned in overlapping colors of emerald and silver. The only example of this date and mint certified by NGC, and yet more impressive when found in near-gem condition as this. Ex. UBS Gold & Numismatik Auction 74 (January 2008, Lot 0287). From the Cape Coral Collection of French Ecus and 5 Francs." This product of the Nantes mint is fairly common.
