This specimen was lot 1084 in Goldberg's NY International sale 58 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $3,240. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Louis XV (1715-1774). Gold Double Louis d'or au bandeau, 1746-K (Bordeaux). Striking imperfections. Original mint brilliance. The only example graded at PCGS. In PCGS holder graded MS 62." The double louis d'or au bandeau was introduced in 1741 and was struck at all the mints. The type is somewhat common altho most individual dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 6,420, but not priced[2].

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J. C. Roëttiers.
