This specimen was lot 1085 in Goldberg's NY International sale 58 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Louis XV (1715-1774). Gold Louis d'or au bandeau, 1746-G. Poitiers mint. Lightly toned with original underlying mint luster. Rare. In PCGS holder graded AU 58." The louis d'or au bandeau was introduced in 1740 and was struck at all the mints. The type is common altho most individual dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 3,936 but priced as common[2].

Specification: 8.16 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22-23 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J. C. Roëttiers.
