This specimen was lot 667 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'or, 1744-W. Louis XV (1715-74). Well struck and attractive. PCGS MS-62." This specimen is a louis d'or au bandeau struck at the Lille mint, one of a type struck there in 1740-70. This specimen is counted as a common date.

Recorded mintage: 375,000.

Specification: 8.158 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge.
