This coin, called a dixième d'écu au bandeau, was the French equivalent of a ten cent piece. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the 1/10 écu = 12 sols. The type was struck 1741-72 and is recorded for the Paris mint ("A") for most of those years. This issue is from the Lille mint (mintmark "W") and is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 28,470[1].

Specification: 2.94 g, 0.917 fine silver, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
