The first specimen was lot 611 in CGB sale 20 (Paris, June 2004). This coin, called a cinquième d'écu au bandeau, was the French equivalent of a 20¢ piece. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the 1/5 écu = 24 sols. The type was struck 1741-72 and is recorded for the La Rochelle mint ("H") for 1741, 1743 and 1770 only. All dates of this mint are scarce.

Recorded mintage: 9,155[1].

Specification: 5.9 g, 0.917 fine silver, 26 mm diameter.
