This specimen was lot 30421 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1736-M. Louis XV (1715-74). PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed. VERY RARE date." This type is recorded for 1726-40 and is among the more common gold coins of the French ancien régime, this date from Toulouse (mintmark "M") is rare, being unlisted in Droulers[2]. Dates 1735-M and 1737-M are attested.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 8.16 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22-23 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.
