This specimen was lot 1240 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $1,260. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. ½ Louis d'or, 1692-G (Poitiers). Rariety-8. Mintage 2,677. Louis XIV. Laureate head with long hair right. Reverse: Crowned arms. Very Rare. PCGS graded About Uncirculated Detail (Cleaned)." This type was struck 1690-93 and while very scarce, is the first available type after the extremely rare dates of the 1670's and 1680's. Droulers[2] divides this issue into Dr/4 № 418 and Dr/4 № 419 based on two different hairstyles for the king. This date is unpriced therein. The demi-louis d'or à l'écu was succeeded by the demi-louis d'or aux 4 L, struck 1693-1700.

Recorded mintage: 2,677, all rf[2].

Specification: 3.37 g, 0.917 fine gold, 20-21 mm diameter, reeded edge.
