Flanders 1662 ducaton Dav-4457
This specimen was lot 794 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it sold for €120 (about US$150 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Philips IV (1621-1665), AR dukaton, 1662, Brugge. Tweede type. Droit: Geharnarst bb. radié. Revers: Gekroond wapenschild gesteund door twee leeuwen. Onderaan het juweel van het Gulden Vlies. Zeer Fraai. (county of Flanders, Philip IV (1621-66), silver ducaton of 1662, Bruges mint, second type. Obverse: armored bust to right with bare head; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, order of the Golden Fleece below. Very fine.)
This type of 1636-65 is priced about the same as the ducatons of Brabant.
