The first specimen was lot 662 in Jean Elsen list 269 (Brussels, July-August 2014), where it was offered for €800 (about US$1,088). The catalog description[1] noted,

"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, De Staten in opstand (1577-1584), AR halve Statendaalder, 1577, Brugge. Droit: Gekroond bb. van Philips II v.v., met scepter en wapenschild voor zich houdend. Revers: Kruis gevormd door de letters P-H onder kronen. Waarde in het veld. Gereinigd. Mooi rond, op een brede muntplaat geslagen. Zeer Fraai à Prachtig (county of Flanders, States' Revolt (1577-84), silver half daalder of 1577, Bruges mint. Obverse: crowned bust of Philip II with scepter and shield; reverse: cross formed of four crowned 'P-H' monograms. Mounted but well struck on a round planchet, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1249 in Aureo y Calicó sale 391 (Barcelona, June 2022), where it sold for €200 (about US$251 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"1577. Felipe II. Brujas. 1/2 escudo de los estados. Acuñada por los insurgentes. Rara. MBC-. (county of Flanders, Philip II, half states daalder of 1577, struck by the rebels. Rare, about very fine.)"

Flanders is now in the heart of Belgium. This type was also struck in Hainaut.

Specification: silver; the first specimen 15,01 g. the second specimen 13,07 g.
