Sincona sale 66, lot 1380

The coinage of Finland was reformed in 1963, with 100 old markkaa = 1 new markka. This specimen was lot 1380 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$790 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FINLAND. Republik. 100 Markkaa 1991, Helsinki. Eishockey-Weltmeisterschaft. Sehr selten. Nur 200 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. Original Plastikbox. (Finland, one hundred markkaa of 1991, Helsinki mint, world championship in ice hockey. Very rare. Only 200 pieces struck, Choice Proof, Original hard plastic box.)"

Recorded mintage: 150,000 + 200 proofs.

Specification: 24 g, 0.830 fine silver, 35 mm diameter.
