Stack's Bowers November 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73299

This specimen was lot 73299 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "FINLAND. 50 Markkaa, 1981-K. Helsinki Mint. PCGS MS-69. Commemorating the 80th birthday of President Kekkonen and 25th year of Presidency. Superb and essentially flawless." Urho Kaleva Kekkonen (1900-86) was president of Finland 1956-82 and pursued a policy of "active neutrality" between NATO and the USSR. This NCLT was issued while he was still alive and in office.
