This specimen was lot 74772 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. 25 Pennia, 1901-L. Helsinki Mint. Nicholas II of Russia. PCGS MS-65." This type is listed for 1872-76, 1889-99, 1907-17 and was struck for Finland by the czarist administration. Russian defeats in World War One enabled the Finns, who had long chafed under Russian rule, to declare independence.
