This specimen was lot 1466 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "FIJI: Elizabeth II, 1952-2022, 6 pence, 1953, a wonderful superb example, PCGS graded MS65." This is the introductory year of a type struck intermittently 1953-67. All dates are common altho the proofs are rare. The turtle reverse first appeared in 1934. Fiji converted to decimal coinage in the late sixties and the sixpence became obsolete.
Recorded mintage: 800,000 plus proofs.
