Fengtien (now Lioaning) Province lies north and west of North Korea, and east of Beijing. The provincial mint operated from 1897-1931.
The specimen shown was lot 60112 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $26,888. The catalog description[1] noted, “CHINA. Fengtien. Dollar, Year 24 (1898). 光緒二十四年奉天機器局造一圓銀幣。Year 24 Fengtien Dollar. Tied for the finest certified by NGC with only three examples in the grade. NGC評鑑得分最高的等級,目前僅三枚。NGC MS-63. Ex: Wayte Raymond Collection, NASCA December 1977 Auction, lot# 929. Ex: Chin Family Collection.”
