This specimen was lot 22460 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "FALKLAND ISLANDS. Pound, 1987. PCGS PROOF-68 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. The deep mirror-like finish provides a perfect backdrop for Queen Elizabeth II, while the sheep-laden shield on the reverse displays similar perfection." This type was also struck in nickel brass and silver.
Recorded mintage: KM 24 (nickel brass, m. 2,500 proofs + circulation strikes), KM 24a (silver, m. 5,000), KM 24b (gold, est. 200).
Specification: KM 24b: 19.65 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22.5 mm diameter, .5793 oz. AGW.
