Estonia 1665 ore KM-9.1
This specimen was lot 11053 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Copenhagen, June 2026), where it sold for €69 (about US$80). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Reval. Öre, 1665. Reval Mint. Karl XI. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. From the L.E. Bruun Collection." This denomination was struck in numerous varieties: KM 9.1 (1663-67, arms both sides, show here), KM 9.2 (value on one side of the shield) and KM 23 (monogram in wreath/arms) and is called a "rundstück" (round piece) by Numista. It likely traded equal to similar öre struck in Sweden. The Swedes conquered Estonia from the Livonian Knights early in the sixteenth century. Peter the Great greatly desired possession of Estonia and occupied it in 1710; the Swedes formally ceded it to him in 1721. It remained Russian until after World War One.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.21 g, billon, 19 mm diameter.
