This specimen was lot 40343 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $9,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. British East India Company. 2 Testerns (1/4 Dollar), ND (1600-01). London Mint; mm: O. Elizabeth I. PCGS EF-40. Portcullis coinage. Obverse: Crowned portcullis; Reverse: Crowned shield of arms flanked by crowned E-R. An exceedingly wholesome and impressive example of this RARE issue struck for the purpose of overseas trade. Nicely centered on a circular planchet, with the legends and design fully struck up and well-detailed despite the noted wear. The first example of this denomination we can recall having offered.
