This specimen was lot 29564 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $4,230. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth I gold Angel ND (1600) AU55 NGC, 6th Issue, 'O' or Cypher mm. A handsome example of this issue, very unfortunately weakly struck on the Angel's face, but otherwise nicely detailed. The flan is fully round and of good metal with beautiful old collection toning over the surfaces." This angel was tariffed at six shillings and eight pence (one third of a pound). We have classed it as a sixth issue.
