This specimen was lot 75007 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Groat, ND (1431-32). Calais Mint; im: cross patonce/plain cross. Henry VI. PCGS AU-55. Pinecone-mascle issue. Obverse: Crowned facing bust within tressure of arches; Reverse: Long cross pattee, with trefoil in each quarter." A groat was fourpence and first appeared in the reign of Edward I. The groat was struck during the reign of Henry VI over several issues and several mints (London and Calais but not York).
