This specimen was lot 5075 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $14,375. The catalog description [2] noted, "Italy. 5 Lire, 1859 (Bologna). Vittorio Emanuele II. Head right. Reverse: Crowned arms. Beautifully toned example with lovely reflective surfaces. Both dates of this two year type are rare. The 1859 is the rarest date and seldom offered. NGC graded MS-62." This was a provisional issue from Bologna while the kingdom of Italy was being organized in 1859-60.
