Eichstatt 1694-GFN thaler Dav-5235
This specimen was lot 1328 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"GERMANY, Eichstätt, Bistum, Johann Eucharius von Castell, 1685-1697. Taler 1694, Nürnberg. Stempel von G. F. Nürnberger. Mit Randschrift. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. Kleiner Schrötlingsriss. (Bishopric of Eichstatt, Johann Eucharius of Castell, 1685-97. Thaler of 1694, Nuremberg mint. Dies by G. F. Nurnberger, with edge lettering. Rare, Good very fine, Minor flan crack.)"
The bishopric of Eichstatt, now in Bavaria, occasionally issued coins. This one-year type minted in Nuremberg is rare, unlike Dav-5236, the most common thaler for this locality in the seventeenth century.
