Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 38112

This specimen was lot 38112 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. 5 Pounds, AH 1415/1994. PCGS PROOF-67 Deep Cameo. King Khasekhemwy." There seems to have been two series of commemorative five pounds struck in 1994; one with the country name "EGYPT" and the other with the country name "A.R.E." The first series was 17.5 g, the second 22.5 g silver. Many of the designs were also used on gold fifty pounds.

Specification: 22.5 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38 mm diameter.
